The Foundation for Development Planning Inc (FDPI) is a member of the U.S. Virgin Islands Climate Change Council, identified in the Climate Change Executive Order signed by Governor Kenneth E. Mapp in October 2015, and subsequently appointed to the council. In addition to participating in the overall work of the council, FDPI will pay particular attention to the community engagement process underpinning the climate change policies and adaptation strategies.

Activities undertaken in support of the U.S. Virgin Islands Climate Change Council include:

• Provision of information on climate change to community groups and media programs.
• Prepared a Briefing Paper on Considerations for At-Risk Groups in the U.S. Virgin Islands Climate Change Initiative.  The briefing paper was prepared jointly with the Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, and submitted to the Office of the Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands, which coordinates the climate change program.
• Organized a media symposium on climate change in the U.S. Virgin Islands in January 2016.

• Report of U.S. Insular Areas Climate Change Stakeholder Meeting, Guam, June 2015.
• Memorandum of Understanding to reduce the risk of climate change in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, signed by the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Government of Puerto Rico, and the US EPA in November 2015.
• Testimony to the “Hearing on the Economic Impact of Climate Change on the U.S. Virgin Islands” convened by the 31st Legislature of the U.S. Virgin Islands, April 2016.
• Synthesis of climate change knowledge and information in the U.S. Virgin Islands (2016).
• Report of February 2017 workshop on “Sea Level Rise and the Impact on Economic Activity in Coastal Communities” in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
